Summary

The Youth Drug Reporting System (YDRS) research examined the characteristics and meanings of substance use for young people aged 13-24 in Melbourne who reported illicit substance use at least monthly. This report focuses on findings in relation to 13–15-year-olds engaged with an alcohol or other drug services. It describes the meanings of substance use in these young people’s lives, and the contexts in which substance use occurs. The report is intended to provide evidence for effective policy and intervention.
